Texas Bluebonnet BooksThe 2018-2019 Texas Bluebonnet Books are in the Fisher Library and will be reading for our young Marlins on day 1 of the new school year! A new list of 20 books is selected and released each year by the Texas Bluebonnet Award committee. The books are a mix of different types of books such as fantasy, fairy tale, biography, poetry, historical fiction, realistic fiction, and nonfiction. Fisher students who wish to participate in the program must read at least 5 of the books on this list and submit their reading logs in order to vote for their favorite in January. Students get to experience the voting process and choose the winner of the Bluebonnet Award. IMPORTANT: If you read all 20 Bluebonnet books, you will receive a MASTER READER CARD. This card will allow you to check out 4 books from the library! Only students who read all 20 Bluebonnet books will be eligible to receive this card. Once you earn the MASTER READER CARD, it must be presented each time you check out books from the library in order to be able to get 4 books. For those incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who want to get a head start, there are some Bluebonnet eBooks available through the NISD Digital Library. Students log in with their student ID# with the "s" in front. The books should also be available as regular books and some as eBooks at the San Antonio Public Library. Students could work on their Bluebonnet reading log (download the reading log via the link on the right) and Mrs. Totin's Reading Challenge at the same time! See the "Summer Reading" tab on the library's website homepage. ***The Bluebonnet program lasts until January 31. Students do not have to read all 20 books during the summer. Students have until the end of January 2019 to read at least 5 books (to be eligible to vote for their favorite) or all 20 to get the Platinum Master Reader Card.*** Reading logs will also be available in the Fisher library during the school year. |
