Welcome to the Fisher Marlin Library Blog! This is a new venture for me this year. I hope many of you take time to read it, to post your comments, and I even hope to have students contribute to its contents. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mrs. Totin and I am very happy and honored to be your Fisher librarian. I have been a librarian for four years. This is the beginning of my fifth year as a librarian and at Fisher. Before this, I taught in the classroom, at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and PE. For me, being a librarian is a dream come true! I get to work with students- supporting what they are learning in their classrooms, helping them connect with great books, and encouraging their lifelong love of reading and learning. I get to help parents find additional books their children can read and enjoy. I also get to work with teachers to help them find library resources they can use in their classrooms, and collaborate with them to plan research lessons and projects. I am originally from Wisconsin, a.k.a the Badger State, the Dairy State, and Packerland! Yes, I am a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and shareholder, and bleed green and gold during the football season. Go Pack Go! I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh- yay Titans! After teaching for quite awhile, I decided to return to college. I attended the University of North Texas in Denton- home of the Eagles, where I earned my Master's Degree in Library Science. I am now fortunate enough to hold what I consider to be the best job I've ever had. In my spare time I love reading, cooking, and spending time with my family. I am married to my amazing husband John, who works in the restaurant business. We have a super-friendly and loving rescue dog named Jack, who is part Boxer and part Collie. (He's a Packer fan too!) We love traveling, both to see family and friends and to check out new places. We also enjoy trying new restaurants and seeing the sights in and around San Antonio. I look forward to working and learning with you this school year!
